Answer me this:
If Jesus picked simple fishermen as His first Disciples (with the mere task of changing the world) from ALL the Jews available at that time (including scholars, super religious nuts etc), WHY then, today, is it essential to have 3rd level education before some religious institutions will consider you for ministry?
Hmmm.

Back in them same days, if a young man wanted a man's daughter for his wife he could probably offer him a mountain goat for her hand in marriage – if he tried the same routine today he'd more than likely get a southpaw special! The people's interpersonal skills have evolved somewhat since them days!
When I look at the former President of the US and the IrishTaoiseach, I'm not so sure that people's interpersonal skills have evolved.

Nonetheless to receive the initial credibility you need to be on a level where people can believe you know what you're talking about. So with so many people studying now, you need to be at least perceived to be educated before you can try to educate others. Otherwise someone like me would just dismiss you without hesitation!
True, good point.
BUT, the qualification (degree, etc) AFTER the training and education period would give you that credibility. (Jesus taught this simple men for approx 3 years)
I'm not questioning this, but I am questioning WHY some institutions require you to have achieved academically before they consider you for training. Jesus did NOT use this method according to the Bible

Just a sign of the times, eh? A bit like anything else – now you can't get a job after your degree unless you have experience, no matter how good your degree result was, and yet to get the experience you need a job first, so it's a vicious circle!
Commonly known as a \”Catch 22\”, or the chicken or the egg? scenario.
