Most African-American’s have sustained their belief Martin Luther King’s dream. Now, finally, after an epic struggle over decades, racial equality looks to be more balanced than ever before. There is a new black President of the world’s super-power –the USA. President Obama may be an incredible man but he is just one man. His team will be both integral and vital to his governance of possibly the most problematic global state in modern history.
If you read my blogs you will know that I love vision, tenacity and courageous leadership. Obama represents all of these qualities, but seems to have a strong sense of reality when addressing the people of America’s and the rest of the world’s issues. The one-man solution and the hope that President Obama is going to turn all the problems in America and the globe around is just nonsense. Critic’s claim if he changes one fifth of the problems in his term, it will be a success.
Like America, Cornerstone is going through a period of change. Brian Somerville will assume position of senior pastor with the next few months, and we will see Andrew McCourt take his position in another great church. Similar to the expectations on President Obama, Brian is great, but only one man. Like Andrew’s term, it will be simply impossible to solve all the issues and concerns of everyone in both the church itself and within our City and the North West of Ireland.
A new era is certainly here, a new day has dawned. Like America, Cornerstone and the people of Ireland must rise and put their shoulder to the cart in order to turn the wheels under the guidance of their leaders.
Teamwork certainly makes the dream work. God bless President Obama, and God bless Ireland, Brian and Judith, and the leadership of Cornerstone City Fellowship.
Change is most definitely here to stay.
